The 28-year-old England ace was arrested after an incident at the Lounge Inn, where the DJ, Marcus McGee, required hospital treatment due to facial injuries.
A police statement read: “Merseyside Police has charged Steven Gerrard, 28, of Formby, John Doran, 29, and Ian Smith, 19, both from Huyton, Liverpool, with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray, following an incident at Bold Street in Southport.
“The three men will appear at North Sefton magistrates court on January 23.”
Gerrard has been released on police bail.
