Madejski told The Times: “I’d love to make football work financially. If I could, I’d stay here for ever.
“But the money that goes into the players’ pockets at the top level is obscene. I just wish I’d worked harder at school on the football pitch.
“If anyone wants to buy the club, they should ring me up and we’ll have a chat. No, there haven’t been any serious buyers, so I shall stay here as long as I have to. I’m not cutting and running just yet.”
