The 30-year-old has picked up an injury to his right thigh.
A statement on the club’s website: “According to tests carried out yesterday (Tuesday) he is suffering from an injury to the right thigh quadriceps and will be out for around three weeks.”
Joaquin joined Malaga in the summer from Valencia on a three-year contract.
