Manchester United and Manchester City are set to compete for the signing of Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma in January.
City are believed to be leading the chase for the 26-year-old Japan winger, but will face strong competition from their rivals, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
Mitoma has developed into a key player for Brighton since joining the Premier League side from Kawasaki Frontale in 2021.
Reports have previously linked the winger with the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.
Recently there were suggestions that Mitoma has agreed a new five-year contract with Brighton worth around £80,000-a-week.
