The 17-year-old has impressed for Preston since making his full debut for the club against Gillingham in October.
Brownhill is yet to sign a professional contract with Preston, but the club is reportedly in talks to hand the youngster a long-term deal.
Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Fulham, Stoke, Swansea and Southampton are reportedly some of the clubs to have checked on him in recent weeks.
A spokesman for Cassius Management, who represent the player, told Sky Sports: “Josh is very happy at Preston having made his debut and wants to repay the manager, club and fans for their faith in him.
“We will hold talks with the club over a professional deal for him and that is all we can say at the moment.”
