Manchester City chief executive Alistair Mackintosh had a secret meeting with the former Juventus and Monaco boss in Paris on Tuesday.
City has also been linked with Seville manager Juande Ramos, former Porto boss Co Adriaanse, Blackburn chief Mark Hughes, ex-Fulham boss Chris Coleman and Celtic’s Gordon Strachan in recent weeks.
