City boss Eriksson is hopeful they can sign the Dutchman for a knockdown £12million due to Ajax’s poor financial situation.
Eriksson wants to bring in Huntelaar as a replacement for Rolando Bianchi, who has failed to settle at Eastlands following his £8.8million move from Serie A side Reggina in the summer.
