The Mirror reports that City supremo Brian Marwood has personally apprached French side Caen. Marwood is keen to hold talks with Niang this week.
Niang recently spent a few days with Arsenal and has been strongly linked with a move to the Gunners.
Niang has also had an invite to visit Tottenham.
But reports claim Manchester City are set to win the chase for the £6million-rated 17-year-old forward.
