Abu has signed a new deal that will keep him at Eastlands until the summer of 2014.
The 19-year-old is currently on loan at Stromsgodset and has impressed both in Norway and in the Europa League.
“I’m so happy to get a new contract, and to see that the club has a lot of faith in what I’ve done,” he told City’s official website.
“I am working towards the day when I can wear a Manchester City shirt in a first-team game.”
Abu will stay on loan at Stromsgodset until January.
