Ball told City’s website: “We are in a dogfight, we knew that after the Portsmouth game and that we needed to start getting points on the board as soon as possible. The Wigan result has made it a lot harder for ourselves, but with the way we played in the first 20 minutes we deserved it.
“We got back into the game and created a lot of half-chances, but the luck was not with us. That’s what happens when you are down there, and you have to keep working hard. We have to work a lot harder than we did to get three points.
“We knew it wasn’t working well, we could not get out of our half but after 30 minutes we started getting the ball down and passing it. We were unlucky not to get a goal before half time, and that’s what is more frustrating.”
