Cleverley suffered the foot injury in the 5-0 victory at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday folloinwg a challenge by Kevin Davies.
“It is unfortunate but we expected it,” said United boss Sir Alex Ferguson after the game. “It was a bad tackle.”
But United have today confirmed that Cleverley has not broken his foot and has merely suffered ligament damage.
