The 24-year-old has recently been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal.
“During my vacation I have thought back to the championship a lot,” Vertonghen told the club’s official website.
“I have many videos on the internet and every time I’ve looked back I’ve got goose bumps. The title was one of the best moments of my life and certainly the best of my career.
“I will focus myself on Ajax until something else comes. Moreover, I want to help them become champions once again.
“As it looks now, I will stay for another year in Amsterdam. ”
“We have a very strong selection. It’s very balanced,” he added. “At each position we have at least two good players.
“Furthermore, there are some young guys as well as the necessary experienced players.”
