Welbeck is currently earning £15,000 per week at Old Trafford, but the striker is demanding £60,000 to sign a new deal with the club.
The Daily Mail reports that Manchester United are only prepared to offer around £45,000-£50,000 a week, so talks over a new deal are now in deadlock.
United youngsters Phil Jones and Chris Smalling both earn £50,000 per week, while Tom Cleverley is currently earning £40,000 per week.
Welbeck’s contract with United is set to expire at the end of next season.
