Tom Hicks and George Gillett made a move for Germany legend Jurgen Klinsmann about taking Rafa Benitez’s manager job.
Ferguson added: “That was a bad piece of business on Liverpool’s part, there’s no doubt about that.
“That sort of thing can be very upsetting for a manager. In a moment like that, Rafa must feel very alone.”
