The Mirror reports that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson sees Willems as a long-term replacement for Patrice Evra.
Ferguson’s brother Martin, watched the 17-year-old left-back in action for PSV Eindhoven at the weekend.
Willems joined PSV Eindhoven from Sparta Rotterdam at the end of August.
Willems signed a three-year contract at PSV when he joined the Dutch side.
