Ferdinand has been out with an injury and was expected to have featured against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Ferguson told Sky Sports: “I think Rio [Ferdinand] will play on Tuesday night.
“It’s a European tie, it’s at home and we’ve got to take advantage of that and that’s the principle of these group games that you get points and hopefully we’ll start that on Tuesday.”
