The Mirror reports that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to make the Brazilian youngster his big summer signing.
A United delegation headed by chief scout Jim Lawlor has been sent to Brazil to thrash out a deal for the 19-year-old.
Ferguson has urged United’s owners, the Glazer family, to spent up to £30million on the youngster this summer.
The Brazilian youngster is also wanted by Chelsea and Real Madrid.
