A draw against Chelsea would see United on course for a record 19th title with just two games left, but Giggs insists his side will attack.
“I think it’s dangerous to just try to avoid defeat against a team like Chelsea, who can score goals against you,” said Giggs.
“We have to go out and attack, like Manchester United do at Old Trafford. The crowd wouldn’t have it any other way.
“If we were to sit back in the first 10 or 15 minutes, the crowd wouldn’t have it. We’ve got to try and score goals and win the game.
“Both teams realise that [if United win the title race is all but over], and that’s what we’ll be aiming to do.
“It’s going to be difficult because they’re a top team, but our form is good and we always fancy ourselves at Old Trafford.”
“Both teams realise that it’s virtually all over if we win it,” he said. “We realise that, and that’s what we’ll be aiming to do.
“It’s going to be difficult, because they’re a top team, but our form is good and we always fancy ourselves at Old Trafford. We have to produce the level of football we know we’re capable of if we’re to win.
“Chelsea are flying at the moment but, apart from last Sunday against Arsenal, we have been as well. It’s two very good teams going into the game on good form.
“We’ve still got two tough games after Sunday, but if we beat Chelsea we’re in a really strong position. We’ll be trying to sew the league up as quickly as possible, starting Sunday.”
