The Daily Star Sunday reports that United are wrapping up an £18million deal for the 20-year-old.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has decided to bring in De Gea as a replacement for Edwin van der Sar, who is retiring at the end of the season.
United signed Danish keeper Anders Lindegaard last November.
