He said: “The Roma players looked terrified of Cristiano. But, then, who in the world isn’t terrified of him? You could sense they were worried every time he got the ball.
“He’s a fantastic player to have on your side. His pace was so important when we lost Paul Scholes because he was still a threat to them and they were wary of us breaking.”
He added: “The Champions League is very special for me and I have been waiting a long long time to play in these big games after my injury problems.
“We are only half way through this tie but we feel we can go on and win it again.
“Losing is never a good result, but if it means we have to win 1-0 at Old Trafford we would always take that.
“Roma are a very good side with fantastic individuals so it will be hard, but there is a chance for us.”
