Marseille tried to sign Diarra last summer, but the two clubs failed to agree on a deal.
Deschamps is now confident that the transfer will be completed.
“I have no doubt about Diarra’s potential,” Deschamps told L’Equipe.
“I was a player and I know when you stay somewhere after deciding you want to leave, it is complex.
“I know his qualities and the role he can play here and for the French national team.”
