“When you see Newcastle and Boro going down and what they’d spent over the past few years, I can understand out board being very careful we don’t ruin the club,” he said in the Daily Star Sunday.
“I’m just looking and hoping for another £5m or £6m to spend before the deadline.
“I still feel we need a couple of players of real quality – a midfielder to complement the guys already in there and a leader at the back.”
