The 29-year-old feels that he has wasted three season of his career since joining Los Merengues in 2007 from Borussia Dortmund.
Metzelder’s contract expires at the end of the season.
“I do not think that the club will extend my contract,” he told Kicker.
“But even if things suddenly changed then I would look to end my adventure at Real Madrid.
“I dreamed of playing alongside such players, but in all honesty, they have been three lost years.”
