Mexes delighted by AC Milan move

Mexes is set to join the Rossoneri on a free transfer when his contract with Roma expires in the summer.

“I can make it official,” Mexes said. “I am a Milan player for the next four seasons. I am happy to arrive to Milan, one of the best clubs in Italy and the world. I am proud, especially when I see the new jersey with the Scudetto!”

The 29-year-old had long been linked with a move to AC Milan.

“When Milan offered me this opportunity I did not hesitate,” Mexes said in an interview with France Football.

“I had to options to remain at Roma or to join Milan. Roma has been my second home but I made the decision to leave the club this winter.

“I took into consideration all the criteria. I also knew that Milan had followed me for the last three years.

“Milan is a reference for everyone and they share my ambitions.

“It’s a club that cultivates victories and is superior just like Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“I am going there to win. The Champions League is also my aim.”
