He said: “I respect this club because they wanted me from Juventus, but I am not here to earn money without playing.
“This is the reason why I have spoken to the management – if someone doesn’t like me I can leave. I am contracted to Juve until 2010 and there are several clubs interested in me.
“I was told that I am an important player and they want me to stay. I like it in Lisbon and I hope to remain.”
Benfica coach Fernando Santos has stated that he considers Miccoli to be overweight, something the player is unhappy with.
He continued: “I am only slightly heavier than when I was at Juventus. I haven’t been able to train for more than three days in a row in the past three months.
“I am sure that everything would return to normal if I were able to work with continuity. I respect the people I work with and I have an excellent relationship with all my colleagues.
“But I am here to play, to score lots of goals and I hope to win something with Benfica.”
