Borriello scored both goals in the 2-0 win at the San Siro.
But Borriello revealed that he almost had to quit football after the game.
“It’s a nice evening for me and Milan,” he said to Sky Sport after the match. “I’m doing well, the dark period is over; now I can’t wait for Tuesday.
“I’m still not completely fit. I feel it in my legs, I can give more. After the break, I think I’ll be at my best. Thankfully things are getting better now.
“I almost could have stopped playing because if I hadn’t had the operation on my muscle, it would have been tough to continue playing. So I also thank professor Castellacci, who fixed me up surgically. Now I’m here and I’m enjoying this evening.”
