The 30 year old is expected to step up and fill the void left by the departure of star striker Kris Body this summer.
“For a couple of weeks, I’ve found the shin splints problem pretty frustrating,” he told the club’s official website.
“I’ve not been able to train as much as I’d have liked and the pain has been pretty unbearable at times.
“I’ve found myself lying in bed at night and it’s been absolutely throbbing. It has been waking me up and all sorts.
“It hasn’t been great but I took a few days when we got here in the hope that would allow it to settle down.
“That seems to have worked and during the game with Blackburn on Sunday, I felt pretty good.
“It has been pleasing for me to score a couple of goals, even despite the injury. It was nice to get on the scoresheet.”
