Modric joined Spurs for £16.5million from Dinamo Zagreb.
Modric said: “I aspire to be loved by the fans like Hoddle and Gascoigne were.
“It’s a big inspiration for me and hopefully in time the fans can love me like those Spurs legends.
“They are really big players. But I don’t want to make any comparisons with them. I still have to show what I am fully capable of.”
