Aston Villa’s pursuit of Marc Pubill sees Monchi engage in discussions, signaling a long-term strategy for the young talent.
Last week, reports emerged of Aston Villa’s interest in Levante UD’s Marc Pubill, with expectations of a formal bid from the Premier League side. The 20-year-old right-back has attracted attention from various clubs, including UD Almería. While the latter has already submitted a €4m offer, Aston Villa closely monitors Pubill’s progress.
Monchi, the transfer guru for Aston Villa, holds the youngster in high regard, leading to talks with Levante’s sporting director, Felipe Miñambres. However, it’s clarified that the conversation was merely a preliminary inquiry, and no official offer has been made by Villa at this stage. The club views Pubill as a prospect for the future, not part of their immediate plans for the current transfer window.
With Matty Cash and Calum Chambers already occupying the right-back position, Villa remains well-covered in that area. If any changes occur, the manager, Unai Emery, considers shifting Diego Carlos or Ezri Konsa to fill the role.
As of now, there are no active efforts to secure Pubill’s services for Aston Villa this summer. Nevertheless, it’s not ruled out that the young Spaniard could make his way to England in the future, either with Villa or another club. The talks with Levante indicate Villa’s strategic approach to nurturing and potentially signing the promising talent in the long run.
