Laudrup signed a two-year contract with the Premier League side on Friday.
“It’s a great appointment for Swansea City,” Monk told Swansea’s official website.
“When you look at the candidates for the job, he was the perfect choice.
“With the way we play, I don’t think there are too many managers out there that believe in the style and system.”
He added: “The experience he has got as a player and also a manager already will be invaluable to the development of this group of players.”
