Hartlepool survived relegation to League Two on the last day of last season and Monkhouse believes that reinforces are badly needed to stop it happening again.
“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want any new signings. I think it is a bit of a worry,” he told the Hartlepool Mail.
“You turn on Sky and teams are signing all these players.
“I’ve seen a lot of League Two teams and League One teams who don’t get the 20,000 attendances signing players.
“I thought we’d have signed a few but it has not happened yet. I think if you asked the gaffer he’d want a few signings so hopefully we can get a few before Saturday.”
