The 24-year-old has impressed for Montpellier since joining the club in January 2010 and is regarded as a possible international star of the future.
“Being linked with the France national team is very flattering and it confirms that I am playing well,” Giroud told France Football.
“I have never received a call, though, so I have no reason to feel under pressure. It is up to me to prove that I am good enough.
“I have set myself the targets of becoming an international player and playing one day in England.
“If I work hard, I think my efforts will be rewarded.”
