Moore and boss Martin O´Neill feared he would miss the rest of the season.
The Villa boss said: “The good news is Luke could be back in as little as three months. I was worried it might be a season-finishing injury.
“Luke does need surgery. The doctor feels he must get it sorted out soon because it’s not helping him long-term to struggle on with this.”
