Mourinho has had a troubled start to the new season, with relations with defender Sergio Ramos particularly strained, as well as those with others including Mesut Ozil.
“Now is not the time for dramas if a certain player is left on the bench,” he said.
“I am paid to pick the team. Some players don’t make the first team and that is the end of it. I pick the team on form.”
