Mourinho left the Blues in September 2007, but admits he instead should have left the club in July.
He said: “My biggest mistake as a coach? Instead of leaving Chelsea in September, I should have left in July.
“Instead of a season where I only worked for three months in difficult circumstances, I’d have gone to a really big, big team because I had that big, big team wanting me.”
