Murphy told the club’s website: “The fact that in the games I have played centrally and on the left and done a reasonable job in both position could help.
“It kind of goes for me in terms of future appearances because the gaffer knows I can do a job in either role.
“If the team is doing well it is up to somebody else to get the shirt off me.
“There is going to be competition, but when you get in and do well it pushes your claim for future games. I think my performances so far have done me no harm.”
