Mvoto has signed a three-and-half year contract with Sunderland.
Sunderland and Paris Saint Germain has agreed a compensation package worth around £300,000.
“Jean is one for the future,” said Sunderland boss Roy Keane.
“We’ve seen a lot of him and he’s a strong centre-back who will be a good addition to our squad.”
