Nesta keen on new AC Milan deal

Nesta’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

“I’d like to continue to play until 2012 but it doesn’t depend only on me,” Nesta told Corriere dello Sport.

“My contract with Milan expires in June and we’ll see what the club wants to do. I want to stay, I want to go forward.

“Now, at last, I’m fine. I spent a really bad period [during 2008-2009] and I was afraid of having to stop playing football.”

Nesta is ready to move into coaching, preferably with Lazio, if he fails to land a new deal.

He added: “At the end of my career I would like to work with youngsters, I don’t know whether in Milan or Rome, which is my hometown.

“If I had not been forced to leave Lazio in 2002 because of their economic problems I would have been at Lazio all my life.

“I crowned a dream playing for the team of my city, for which I and my entire family are fans of.

“At Lazio I was very happy. I was earning well, even more than now, but then the club had problems and they sold me and Hernan Crespo.”
