Leeds were relegated from the Premiership in 2004 and have found it difficult to reassert themselves as a dominant force after huge debts crippled the club.
“All the players I speak to know what a great move it is because it’s a huge club,” he told Sky Sports News.
“Leeds could be challenging in the top half of the Premier League, but that’s up to the players and management to do that now.
“It was great (coming in on loan). I came in with nine games to go and help them get over the line.
“People say we crawled over the line, but at the end of the day it’s what the league table looks like at the end of the season.
“It showed we were the second best team in the division so now we’re in the Championship, a step closer to where the fans want to be.”
