Nugent insisted he would never return to Portsmouth, after scoring twice for Burnley in their 3-1 win over Sunderland on Saturday.
The 24-year-old said: “Everybody makes mistakes and I definitely made a mistake moving down south. I hardly played and when I did I was used as a winger rather than a striker.
“I am here until January and there is an option to extend the loan. Hopefully I can make it permanent.”
