Nugent has been linked with a move to Everton, after failing to make an impact at Pompey.
“Everton has not contacted us and he hasn’t said he wants to go,” Adams said on the club’s website.
“He supported Everton as a boy and sometimes the press put two and two together and come up with five.
“At the moment chances are limited for him but he’s reacting really well in training and working hard.
“He’s part of my squad and there will be opportunities for him.”
