Villa owner Randy Lerner is determined to keep O’Neill at the club and wants the former Celtic boss to sign a new three-year deal.
Lerner fears O’Neill could be tempted to leave Villa if a bigger club makes him an offer.
O’Neill currently earns around £3million-a-year at Aston Villa.
