O’Neill has been out of work since leaving Villa last August.
“It’s been an exciting league,” he told Sky Sports News. “It’s been an exciting league for quite a number of years.
“I think it’s the envy of a lot of other teams in Europe. The Spanish league is terrific, but it’s a two-horse race. The German league is very strong and very well supported.
“The Premier League I think is something to be proud of. If you’re involved in that league at all then I think you should take great pride in it.
“I miss it a great deal. At some stage or another I’d like another opportunity to go and manage in it again.”
