The 24-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at Sunderland.
Onuoha told the Daily Star Sunday: “I’m ambitious and, if I get back there in pre-season and the manager is still adamant he doesn’t want me and I’m not good enough, I won’t argue.
“City has been my club since I was nine. I’m 24 now and I’ve spent most of my life there. Until August, it was the only thing I knew.
“But I’ve seen another side at Sunderland – it’s been a great experience. If I’ve got to leave City again, it won’t be as difficult as it was first time.”
