Owen told Sky Sports News: “I am on the full stretch to get back to fitness.
“Turn of the year, I will have a scan and as long as everything is knitting together nicely, I will be able to press on.
“If you take a time limit from the operation of six to nine months then you work on that. Why not six months or seven months? Why settle for nine months?
“I am really positive I can play again this year. That is what keeps me going in the gym.”
