Pardew left Southampton earlier this season following a poor start to the campaign, whilst Chris Hughton’s departure this week from Tyneside raised eyebrows across the country.
Pardew is now being heavily linked to the role with reports suggesting that he will be confirmed as their new manager within 24 hours, despite similarly strong rumours claiming that Martin Jol could be the next manager at St. James’ Park.
