Pardew said: “There was an enquiry for Nigel. I said adamantly what should happen and that is what did happen – he stayed here as a West Ham player.
“I think any club in the country would be interested in Nigel. He is the captain of the England Under-21s and he has led them to the European Championship.
“He has shown with England in the last few games that he has a great future.
“We all want to win trophies and if you don’t see a chance of that at a particular club you move on.
“We were very, very close to winning one of the blue riband events last season in the FA Cup.
“There is no reason, despite a difficult start, that we can’t do the same damage we did last season and secure a trophy.”
Its believed that Arsenal made an offer for Reo-Coker in August.
