Park told manutd.com: “We also did particularly well in the Champions League in my final season in Holland, but were beaten by AC Milan in the semi-finals. They were a bigger team than us, but we had great tactics. We weren’t afraid of losing and were very close to getting a positive result. Of course it was very disappointing not to win, but until we’d reached that stage we did extremely well in each game and that part I was delighted with.
“I’d love to go a stage further with United, and this season I think that’s a realistic expectation. If United win then nobody thinks it’s down to luck, it’s down to ability.
“One of the main reasons for that is the great team spirit among the squad this season, and personally I am delighted to be able to play my part. I was frustrated earlier in the season after being injured, but I feel I am contributing again now and I am happy with that. We have a great chance of success this season.”
