Manchester United are closing in on a new long-term contract for Uruguayan youngster Facundo Pellistri.
United will hand the 21-year-old a new deal before sending him out on loan, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Pellistri has been strongly linked with a loan move to Dutch side FC Twente in recent weeks.
United manager Erik ten Hag does not want to lose Pellistri permanently as he believes he has a future at Old Trafford.
Pellistri scored a last-second equalizer for United in their pre-season friendly against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
He told Manchester Evening News after the match: “If I go on loan, it’s because I hope to get minutes and then return stronger.
“And If I stay, to play all the time, I can play and contribute to the team, so we will see what happens in the next weeks but now I am enjoying this moment.”
