Perch signed a four-year contract with the Magpies earlier this week.
“I can’t wait, you hear stories about all the great players that have played here, and the great supporters that this club gets and I am just looking forward to playing my first game and settling into this great city,” he told Sky Sports News.
“They [Newcastle] have welcomed me with open arms.”
Perch is looking forward to Newcastle’s Premier League opener against Manchester United.
“It is a great start, it is going to be tough going to Old Trafford but everyone is looking forward to it,” he said.
“It is going to be a massive step [playing in the Premier League], the step up from the Championship is massive but hopefully I can do it.”
